In studies, men overestimate their abilities and performance, and women underestimate both. Their performances do not differ in quality.
Women applied for a promotion only when they met 100 percent of the qualifications. Men applied when they met 50 percent.
In the Bold in Business Program you’ll develop a more confident posture, firm and clear communication, tactics for selling yourself and your ideas, methods of dealing with confrontation, and new strategies for taking action.
The Bold in Business course is an intensive “live” online six week program designed to help women identify and overcome the issues that hold them back from owning their power and expressing themselves boldly.
Here are some of the topic covered in the course:
*Mindset – What are your strengths and how do you highlight and build them? What are your challenge areas and what is your plan for developing them into strengths that serve you? In this 6 week class, we work on identifying, multiplying, and amplifying what is already working, and honestly examining and setting strategy for opportunities for growth.
* Setting Bold Goals – For those of us who are perfectionists, our plan is to take that risk just as soon as I get this perfect – and too often that means never taking the risk at all. Are you taking the risks you want to take in your work? Are you sharing your ideas with others? We identify bold goals you want to take and develop strategies for achieving them.
*Goal Implementation – It’s not enough to set the goals, you have to implement them as well. What are the obstacles that get in your way? In what ways might you self-sabotage? We learn new strategies for implementing steps toward goals and effective ways to motivate and hold ourselves accountable.
*Embracing Assertiveness & Self-Promotion – There are so many ways we signal our strength or self-doubt. Understanding what messaging our body language and written and verbal communication is conveying is critical. We identify and role-play opportunities for communicating our strengths with plenty of practice.
*Communicating Powerfully – Asking for what you want and deserve; sharing your ideas and proposals; saying no; dealing with confrontation and saying what you mean directly – these are powerful skills that will always serve you well. Again, if you want to truly adopt new behaviors – you must practice. We practice this important work in small groups.
*Resilience & Managing Risk – Hand in hand with the need to be able to deal with confrontation, effective women also need grit and resilience. We don’t always have to win, but we do have to get up and try again. We help you figure out when to give up the fight and lose gracefully, and what to do if something goes wrong. Because it will.
To truly change behavior and limiting ways of thinking, you need an ongoing learning environment. You need support and guidance in the moment when crisis and/or great challenge presents itself. After the course, you become part of our alumni community of support. It is there you will find advice, support, perspective, and a role-playing partner when you really need it – in the moment of opportunity.
Class logistics – The course is delivered weekly in an online Zoom class. In addition to the classes, we share content in the form of readings and video that provide the foundation for practice and discussion. We use plenty of real-life examples because, well, we are real-life women in business.
There are weekly writing assignments and peer review comments to be done. Weekly assignments and discussion topics help you to practice skills in a safe environment. Your peers will help you, too, by commenting on your work as you comment on theirs.
I believe all women have the intelligence, integrity, focus, and experience to successfully reach for bigger goals and achieve them. Sometimes we need a little help unlocking our bold inner voice. Please join us for the course as we work together to lead our lives more boldly.
“Because of the heavy reflection element, this course meets you where you are, and we all have room for growth when it comes to feeling comfortable proclaiming our strengths and asking for what we want without apology. I didn’t have the imagination to understand ahead of time how I would grow throughout this course, but I did, and if you approach it with an open mind and a willingness to be honest, you will too.” Laura B
